Less than 24 hours after being made available for pre-order, the iPhone 4 has sold out in Apple’s UK store. TUAW are reporting that AT&T are also sold out in the US. I wonder how many were made available for pre-order. I bet it wasn’t a trivial number.

Glad I got my order in early enough. Did you manage to get an order in or are you waiting to pick one up on launch day? Let me know in the comments along with which model you went for!

This guy is a genius. My desk stand looks so weak by comparison.

Bored of iTunes popping up everytime you click a link to the App Store? This Safari 5 extension prevents the iTunes script from launching, leaving you looking at the HTML iTunes Preview page in your browser.

I love the images on fiftyfootshadows.net – it’s always exciting to see some new images to use as wallpapers. This website is what I use as inspiration for my own ‘minimal’ wallpaper shots (coming soon!).

This is exactly the calculation that I did to work out if the 16GB iPhone 4 would be big enough for me. I came to the same conclusion that with a camera shooting 720p HD video, only the 32GB model would have enough storage to make the best use of it.

I wish I had the same sense of minimalism/self-control that Patrick Rhone over at Minimal Mac (a great website that every Mac owner should read) has. He’s planning on sticking with his iPhone 3G instead of “rushing out to buy an iPhone 4″.
While I fully agree that it’s admirable to use what you have, I love (and am proud to be) an early adopter of new tech. I also feel that I absolutely get the best out of any gadgets or technology that I own. For that reason, I’ll be heading out on launch day to get myself an iPhone 4 – mainly so I can get a good look at that screen.
Sorry Patrick.
Just waiting for O2 to announce when I can actually order one instead of telling me how much data I won’t be able to use when I get it.

If you search for ‘world cup‘ on Google at the moment, you get this nice easter egg:

Not only is iPhone 4 the best iPhone yet, it also has the best example I’ve seen of HTML5 being used instead of Flash. It works on iPad and iPhone too. I want to know how they did that.

One of the main reasons that I love my job is that I get to learn something new every day. And this is normally that way that I learn:

I know that people will find these images disturbing, I know I certainly do. However, I think it’s important that we realise the scale of the problem caused by this disaster.

I know that spills like this occur on a semi-regular basis in parts of Africa and yet they don’t receive any publicity, but hopefully this can help to raise awareness of the negligence shown by the world’s richest companies.
